Survey of Drayage Rates in Long Beach, Miami, and Savannah

September 24, 2018

In July 2018 CarrierLists partnered wiht FreightWaves to conduct a survey to better understand rates and capacity in three main US ports.

Capacity was extremely tight in all three markets.  Long Beach had the most capacity (16%) for spot market loads along with the lowest drayage rates.

It will be interesting to see how the drayage market reacts as we move past the spike in import traffic in June and July of this year to beat the first round of tariffs.

The second round of tariffs that began on 9/24/2018 are starting at 10%.  This tariff rate will climb to 25% on January 1, 2019.

Will we see another rush to beat the clock later this year?
